How to keep cat water fresh without changing filters
Stop buying filter replacements and start separating the backwash.
You can keep cat water fresh without changing filters by using a dual-tank system that isolates dirty backwash from the clean water supply. This design prevents hair and debris from recirculating, keeping the drinking tray clear without the need for constant filter cotton replacements.
How the dual-tank system works
The HAPAW fountain uses a 101oz clean water tank and a separate 46oz wastewater tank. When your cat drinks, the backwash is diverted into the waste tank rather than being recycled through the pump. This keeps the main reservoir clean for longer periods.
Maintenance requirements
- Wipe the main control unit with a damp cloth (do not submerge).
- Wash the stainless steel tray and tanks with soap and water.
- Rinse or replace the black sponges that catch hair and debris.
- Refill the clean tank every 3 to 9 days depending on your cat's usage.

Note: This fountain is not recommended for large dogs, as they may empty the drinking tray quickly and require you to drain the wastewater tank more frequently.
